From March 12 and 13, the World Remanufacturing took place for the first time in Italy. BatMASS was represented and several prototypes were presented.
Promote interaction and collaboration between scientific institutions and industrial players
The World Remanufacturing Summits are a series of events designed to create networks around innovative technologies, systems, and business models for the circular economy. It is important to note that these events place special emphasis on integrating remanufacturing between the different stakeholders.
During the development of this event, a special focus was given to raise awareness of the benefits of remanufacturing for the society as a whole. At its core, the campaign aims to highlight the environmental advantages of this standardized industrial process, emphasizing how it reduces waste, conserves resources, and minimizes carbon emissions compared to traditional manufacturing processes. It is also important to take into consideration the economic benefits of remanufacturing such as job creation, cost savings, profitability, innovation and it has been shown to improve competitiveness within industries.
This aspect was effectively communicated through the BATMASS dedicated booth and the batteries and prototypes shown during this event. Green Vision also showed some of its samples which helped to have a more visual and wider understanding of the benefits of remanufacturing. Both projects served as perfect examples to demonstrate how remanufacturing can be applied to real cases.
“Remanufacturing is standardized industrial process by which cores are returned to same-as-new, or better, condition and performance. The process is in line with specific technical specifications, including engineering, quality and testing standards. The process yields warranted products.”

Furthermore, this event also addressed misconceptions and barriers associated with remanufacturing. It provided accessible resources to foster new circular business models by bridging the gap between scientific and industrial communities as well as including public institutions and clusters to start discussions around remanufacturing.
Overall, the World Remanufacturing Summit 2024 multifaceted approach not only raised awareness but also inspired action, catalysing a shift towards a more sustainable and circular economy where remanufacturing is embraced as a pillar of responsible production and consumption.
