Pilot 3: A singular facility with unique Treatment and recovery of batteries Black Mass

This task will focus on finalizing the scaling-up of the processing plant of ORANO, designed to recover from the black mass the critical raw materials, by means of particular Hydrometallurgical recovery processes using a unique TRL 7 technology developed by ORANO.

Sub Pilot A

Innovative recycling process design & implementation, which will include:

  • In place process stage logistics: feedstock collection and sorting,− Pre-treatment steps – including a process unit: safe opening, module deactivation
  • Active materials access and separation
  • Recovery and valorization of all battery components (Lithium, polymers, Cu, other fractions).

Sub Pilot B

Pilot processing plant will be benchmarked and scaled up from previous project RECYVABAT.

BATMASS with the objective to develop and upscale the pilot to industrial scale: from 1 ton of modules per day processed by pilot to around 50 tons of module per day for the first industrial plant.
