On 12 and 13 November, the BATMASS consortium held a new face-to-face meeting in Italy, bringing together European partners to review the project’s technical progress and coordinate the next milestones toward building a circular and sustainable battery value chain in Europe.

A productive exchange in Milan and Pavia

The first day of the meeting took place at the Politecnico di Milano, where partners assessed the overall status of the project, reviewed ongoing deliverables, and presented updates on the different pilot activities — from dismantling processes to second-life applications at module and cell level, as well as black mass treatment. The visit to POLIMI’s laboratories offered an in-depth look at the technologies currently under development, reinforcing the project’s strong applied-research focus.

On the second day, the consortium met at the Università degli Studi di Pavia to discuss communication and dissemination activities, interregional alignment within the Circular Battery Valley, market outlooks and upcoming investment

replication actions. The session concluded with a steering committee meeting and a guided visit to UNIPV’s laboratories, dedicated to advancing joint experimental planning across the various pilot lines.

This two-day meeting served as a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaboration and ensure strategic alignment among partners. With steady technical progress and reinforced cooperation, BATMASS continues to move forward in the development of innovative and sustainable technologies for battery recycling and reuse in Europe.
