The BATMASS project continues progressing toward the creation of the first European Circular Battery Valley, an ambitious initiative funded by the Interregional Innovation Investment (I3) programme to strengthen Europe’s leadership in battery recycling, repurposing and second-life solutions.
A productive exchange in Grenoble
On 26 and 27 February, the BATMASS consortium gathered in Grenoble for a new in-person meeting aimed at reviewing the project’s technical progress, aligning upcoming activities and reinforcing collaboration among partners as the project enters its final implementation phase.
Throughout the first day, partners presented updates on the development of the industrial pilots, covering key processes such as battery collection and dismantling, second-life applications at module and cell level, and black-mass treatment. The discussions focused on the route towards industrial deployment and the planning of the final year of activities. The day concluded with a technical visit to the pilot line of Verkor, offering participants a first-hand look at one of the project’s key demonstration facilities.
The second day of the meeting addressed cross-cutting aspects essential for the successful implementation of BATMASS, including market framework conditions, replication of investment strategies across European regions, project management and ongoing dissemination and communication efforts. These exchanges contributed to strengthening coordination within the consortium and ensuring a coherent approach towards the creation of a robust and sustainable Circular Battery Valley in Europe.
