Our project participated in the European Regions for Battery Research & Innovation roundtable, held on 19 June 2026 in Brussels and organised by the Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA). The event brought together representatives from European regions, industry and research organisations to discuss how regional ecosystems can strengthen battery innovation and support industrial deployment across Europe.

The roundtable was organised in the framework of BEPA’s work on the Blueprint for Battery R&I in Europe, an initiative aimed at reinforcing Europe’s battery research and innovation landscape. The event provided a platform for participants to exchange experiences on regional strategies, flagship projects, policy approaches and industrial cases that illustrate the positioning of different regions within the European battery value chain.

BATMASS was represented by Marcello Colledani from Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI), project coordinator, who participated as a speaker, while Margarita Domínguez from CTA and Carlo Mondani from AFIL attended the event on behalf of the project. The discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration between regional, national and European stakeholders to strengthen competitiveness, accelerate innovation and support Europe’s strategic autonomy in the battery sector.

By contributing to these exchanges, BATMASS reinforced its commitment to fostering a more sustainable, circular and resilient battery ecosystem in Europe. The insights shared during the roundtable will help support greater alignment between regional initiatives and European priorities, contributing to the development of a stronger and more interconnected battery value chain.
