BATMASS will showcase circular battery solutions at the Mining and Minerals Hall 2026

by | Oct 15, 2026 | Meetings

Our project BATMASS project will take part in the sixth edition of the Mining and Minerals Hall (MMH), taking place from 20 to 22 October 2026 at FIBES in Seville, Spain.

The event will bring together companies, public authorities, researchers and other stakeholders from the mining and raw materials ecosystem to address some of the main challenges facing the sector, including access to critical and strategic raw materials, circularity, sustainability, innovation and industrial competitiveness.

During the event, BATMASS will have visibility in the exhibition area through the stand of one of its project partners, offering visitors the opportunity to learn more about the project and its work towards a more circular European battery value chain.

BATMASS and S3 AMBP at the Andalusian Regional Government stand

BATMASS will also take part in a dedicated session on 20 October at 16:00 at the Andalusian Regional Government stand, where the project will be presented alongside the S3 Advanced Materials for Batteries Partnership (S3 AMBP).

The session will showcase the complementary work of both initiatives in supporting a more sustainable, circular and resilient battery value chain in Europe.

BATMASS is developing and demonstrating circular solutions across the battery lifecycle, with a particular focus on second-life applications, recycling, material recovery and the reintegration of recovered resources into the battery value chain.

S3 AMBP promotes interregional cooperation around advanced materials for batteries, connecting European regions and innovation ecosystems to foster collaboration, investment and the deployment of sustainable battery technologies.

The joint presentation will provide an opportunity to highlight how European projects and interregional partnerships can contribute to strengthening battery circularity, regional innovation ecosystems and more sustainable access to strategic materials.

BATMASS uptake session within the PERMANET Annual Event

On 21 October, BATMASS will take part in the PERMANET 2026 Annual Event, held at MMH in Sala Mojácar, FIBES I, through a dedicated clustering and uptake session focused on circular critical raw material recovery.

The session is framed within BATMASS Task 5.4, “Mass Clustering Uptake Sessions”, which aims to promote the uptake and replication of the solutions, tools and results demonstrated by the project during its final phase.

BATMASS will contribute to the session “From Waste to Value: Scaling Circular Critical Raw Material Recovery in Europe”, bringing together complementary perspectives on secondary raw materials, circular recovery and the conditions needed to move innovative solutions from demonstration to wider deployment.

From 11:45 to 12:00, Dr Laura Quijano, from the Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC), will present “From Secondary Resources to Strategic Materials: scaling Critical Raw Material Recovery in BATMASS”. This will be followed by David Sanjuan, also from ISMC, who will introduce the BATMASS Circular Battery Valley (CBV) policy toolkit. BATMASS will also be represented in the subsequent discussion on the conditions required to scale circular critical raw material recovery in Europe.

The activity reflects the objective of BATMASS uptake sessions: to connect project results with industrial stakeholders, innovation actors, research organisations, investors and policymakers, fostering replication, cross-sector learning and further deployment of the solutions developed within the project.

It will also contribute to promoting the Circular Battery Valley ecosystem and the tools and guidelines developed by BATMASS, supporting their use beyond the project lifetime and encouraging further cooperation around circular battery value chains.

Connecting battery circularity with the raw materials ecosystem

BATMASS’ participation in MMH 2026 will bring the project closer to a wider community working on mining, raw materials, industrial innovation and sustainable resource management.

This context is particularly relevant for the project, as the development of a circular battery value chain depends increasingly on efficient recycling, material recovery and the use of secondary raw materials as part of more sustainable and resilient supply chains.

BATMASS’ participation in the workshop provided an opportunity to strengthen links with complementary European initiatives, exchange knowledge and explore synergies around common challenges across the battery recycling value chain.

These exchanges contribute to a more connected European battery innovation ecosystem and support the development and deployment of circular solutions capable of keeping valuable materials within the European value chain.
