Our project held its 3rd Innovation Advisory Board meeting online on 11 September 2026, bringing together project partners and members of the Advisory Board to review the latest progress of the project’s four large-scale demonstration pilots and exchange perspectives on key technical and regulatory challenges affecting the battery value chain.
During the meeting, partners presented updates from the four BATMASS pilots, covering battery collection and dismantling, second-life applications, raw material recovery from black mass, and the transformation of recovered materials into new battery materials. Discussions addressed topics such as battery transportation and safety requirements, certification and testing procedures, regulatory frameworks, and the scale-up of recycling and material recovery processes.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for an open exchange with the Innovation Advisory Board on emerging developments relevant to the project, including process optimisation, pre-processing technologies, standards and certification, safety requirements, regulation and market trends.
Through these regular exchanges with external experts, BATMASS continues to strengthen the connection between its technological developments and the industrial, regulatory and market conditions needed to accelerate the deployment of circular battery solutions in Europe.
